How many calories are burned shadow boxing in front of the mirror?

I heard it was a really good excercise and im just wondering i weigh 150 lbs|||There is no definitive answer. It depends on the intensity that you are exercising. If your heart rate is consistently high and you feel like you%26#039;re in a cardio workout, then pretty high in calories burned.

I also assume not a lot of calories because you%26#039;re not using any type of resistance (using weights or punching bag, etc).

It%26#039;s exercise...but not a %26quot;really good exercise%26quot;

  1. In shadow boxing, you train your conditioning, combinations and timing. When you're punching or kicking, you should do it as if you were punching a bag (or someone in the ring). Because that works your muscles in a pliometric way (explosino training), and you use as much strenght as punching something. Because you don't have resistance in a bag...you just happen to hit something at the end of the movement. The same happens with an oponnent. The strenght you use is the same, although is a lot funnier to hit something!

    You can use resistance bands to improve your explosion, or light weights to improve your conditioning (specially the shoulders, to keep your arms up), but only do it when you have the proper skills!

    And remember: punching while holding a dumbell can cause injury in your back - because you use those muscles to "recoil" the punch.
