Shadow Boxing with dumbbells?

The other day I started some shadowboxing whilst holding a pair of 1.5kg dumbbells in each hand. After 5 minutes or so I noticed my punched were ALOT faster when not holding the dumbbells. Does this mean my punches were then more powerful then before Shadow Boxing?

(Power/Force= speed+weight) or something like that.|||I think the formula you want to use is the momentum not force. when you figure out mass x acceleration you are actually finding the force you are using to get your arm moving. you are looking for mass x velocity which will give you how much momentum you are transferring over to your opponent.

And I would not use dumbbells because object in motion stays in motion. And when your fist stops your wrist is taking all the momentum that the weight still has. (this will destroy your wrist over time.) If you really want to put some power to your punch try working with cables. just put the cable around a heavy or stationary object and punch away. because there are no weights involved you get the same benefit as the dumbbell without damaging joints. (ps don%26#039;t use cable machines they also have weight so they will be just as damaging to you and the machine)|||f=ma or force equals mass multiplied by the accellaration of said mass.

this builds up your muscles so as you punch at normal speed with dumbells and at lightspeed without. (martial arts 101)

then if you divide the force by the area of your fist you get the average force per sq meter. (metric only soz)

but dont forget the best power enhancer in any martial art is to ensure that youre using the correct technique.|||Bruce Lee used to do it, but I%26#039;d be afraid of doing long term rotator cuff damage. If don%26#039;t make it past 32, I don%26#039;t think you%26#039;ll have anything to worry about.|||yes dude your going to kill in the ring|||yeah that will help everything be fast and stronger

still needs to be accurate and have the correct contact point
